I just saw the video of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

@jbaggs Exactly. The horror is in how *routine* it all looked.
@mattblaze @jbaggs As I said earlier: they are a homegrown Gestapo. The only difference is that they are fucking mask-wearing cowards.

I just saw the video of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis. I won't link to it; it's a snuff film.
I have no words, just terrified outrage.
@mattblaze omg there's video? (EDIT: not asking for it, but just unreal - and nothing's happening)
-
I'm glad I didn't see this until after my class today. I would't have been able to teach.
i'm glad i'm not yet back in classes (next week); and that i've avoided seeing the video so far. ghastly, ghastly

@mattblaze Yeah, everyone would've dismissed class...

@joe If you look you'll easily find it. But be warned, you can't unsee it.

@mattblaze Not a chance I want to see it, but I guess I'll want that guy killed?

@PamelaBarroway @mattblaze @jbaggs and they feel cocky because they don't get told to "Say hello to our little friends!" by angry & armed locals forcing them to surrender!

@mattblaze It basically shut me down for the day.

@mattblaze it's been a numb day for me poking at some code

The challenge now is to funnel this into something more productive than despair.

The highest levels of the federal government have made clear that they regard Americans who engage in protest and dissent as a national enemy. It is unsurprising that their troops on the ground treat them accordingly.
Kent State showed us that this is what happens.
@mattblaze KENT STATE WERE DIPSHIT TEENAGERS, THESE ARE ADULT MEN WHO SIGNED UP FOR NAZI JOB ON PURPOSE AND CELEBRATE IT, THIS IS NOT THE FUCKING SAME MATT WHAT THE FUCK

@0x00string I'm sorry my words don't do this justice, but you are also misreading them.

@mattblaze :-( *hug*

The especially strange banal part of it for me was seeing how the shooter was holding up a cell phone (filming, I assume) in one hand while drawing the gun with the other.
I've seen so many people with that same kind of "split attention" - staring at their phone while walking, opening a door, or doing something else. Only difference is this guy was murdering someone while also on his phone.

@mattblaze Can Americans all please become comfortable with living life differently than how we used to....give a good hard look at the people that you are surrounded by and question their motives and ideals. Draw lines, insist on the the better life that all people deserve. Evidence is more clear every day of the people that are not the good guys. Don't recoil, stand firm. Fight.

@mattblaze how are you doing that? Beyond protests and calling my reps, I’m having a hard time because I feel like I don’t know what to do that would be more productive than despair. Maybe small acts of resistance ARE enough if they add up with everyone else?
