any networking nerds want to point me at where i might look to diagnose home network sluggishness?
basically, i'm getting between 20kB/s and 1MB/s transferring files via rsync over ssh. source (primary driver laptop) and destination (multimedia server) machines are both hard-wired to the same router.
maybe i expect too much? was thinking like 50MB/s....
mtr results (no idea if this is good, bad, or relevant):

Avg: 66.2
Best: 59.7
Wrst: 71.9
StDev: 4.1

Oh, the word "#love"! So #misused, so #misunderstood! Perhaps because it has too many meanings. AFAIK it covers the concepts expressed by a dozen different words in #japanese. I bet it is the same for other languages. My daughter told me that the Italian noun " #amore" has somehow twelve different words in #ancientgreek: romantic, erotic, friendly, paternal, maternal and so on. Each a different word

Hej folks!I need your advice. My family loves to record TV shows, but as I just recently learned their TV DRMs all the records which makes switching super hard. I was playing around with Linux and DVR last time 25 years ago, so I wonder:What is the current state of the art setup for TV recording for cool kids? You know, DRM-free, recordable on an external USB drive, etc.Ideally looking for a set top box that I can just plug in, but willing to glue stuff together.#fedihelp #askfedi

I'm a bit of a typography nerd but I need the help of better nerds, please and thank you:- I'm looking for a *multilingual* (eng, spa, catalan) pixel font with *italics* and **bold**. Anybody know of a cheap/free email provider based in the EU/EEA with a good reputation? Preferrably supporting IMAP. I just want a better secondary email for account retrieval than I have today, so extremely low usage limits is perfectly fine. Coops accepting donation might perhaps be the ideal hosting solution for something like that?I'm currently using one of the tech giants for this, but I'd prefer somewhere it's possible to get in touch with a person who can solve problems for this kind of use.#email #AskFedi
