This is the document, Trump does not want you to see.
In 1916, under President Woodrow Wilson, the United States signed the purchase of the Virgin Islands from Denmark, in a convention in which the United States recognised Denmark's right to the whole of Greenland.
Danish MP's of The Defence Committee will convene in the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility at 18:00 to discuss the defence of Greenland.

@randahl Trump plays by dictator rules so I seriously doubt some document from a hundred years ago is of any concern to him.

@randahl Stephen Miller would be interested in this. I'm sure he was being sincere when he was asking about the origins of Denmark's claim to Greenland.

@randahl the dude just said the quiet part out loud: "might makes right". International law and treaties are dead, this piece of paper is worthless

@randahl oh, this is the same kind of useless guarantee Ukraine got when they agreed to remove all nuclear weapons. Well Russia invaded anyway.
And you know, Trump pisses on any laws, he pisses on the constitution, he pisses on international agreements. He pisses on the world.
So of course he will invade greenland.
So I hope he visits his newly acquired land an dies in a ice storm. -

@randahl Trump doesn't care about past treaties, obligations and international law. He doesn't even properly care about his own word and how breaking it impacts his ability to make future deals. He is always on the hunts for the next sucker. "Yeah, well what are you going to do about it?" Is his basic mentality.

@paulschoe @randahl Thanks! I haven't done much tooting. I certainly should have put an '/s'. My wife explained to me what you meant.

@randahl It doesn't matter. Past deals are not benefiting him personally. The rules of law do not apply to the rich and powerful.
So therefor the guillotine must be brandished once more to remind them the people are the majority.
-
@randahl ”Danish MP's of The Defence Committee will convene in the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility at 18:00 to discuss the defence of Greenland.”
Is that the meeting about Greenland without Greenland being invited?

@randahl If you think you can stop a US president being a land-grabbing asshole by showing him a piece of paper, you don't know US history of breaking treaties with the Native Americans.
@grumble209 @randahl
The same could be said about many Europeans - colonial period: 15th century, intensified in the 17th/18th century, peak in the 19th and early 20th century (imperialism).
Bitter, but true.🤷🏼♂️ -

Bitter, but true.🤷🏼♂️@SamsenBdRi @randahl Exactly.
When I first heard about the land strikes in Venezuela, my first thought was the great quote of imperialism: "Whatever happens, we have got the Maxim gun, and they have not."
This level of abject assholery hasn't been seen in over a century, and it ended in tears for a reason.
