@Edent what's so bad about <div> ... or: Why do you want to avoid them?
-
@Edent i mean its not like the egates ever work properly usually at least half of them are offline for some reason

@Edent also im not surprised its not built to handle multiple nfc tags, seems like a typical british computer system: shit code

@Edent When I was younger (under 18), I remember that generally you can't use egates as a minor. Normally in UK airports I was directed to speak to one of the border control agents instead. But I remember in Canada they never checked. So every single time I entered the country, I would be forced to use the egate even though I knew it would fail (not telling me why but I eventually guessed it was because of my age).
@jamescrakemerani @Edent the ones at heathrow have a lower limit of 12 i believe

@jamescrakemerani @Edent that said this was back when i was in fact twelve (or whatever the lower limit was, maybe fourteen?)
-
@Edent I didn't know it was this easy to change! Also that setting name is very bad, why not call it screen dpi or similar.. 😭
-
@Edent @GreenwichSITP ah, jealous. @eatyourgreens and I used to lunchtime drink in there when we were at the Greenwich museums.

@Edent @funbreaker looks like quite FUD.
There were abuse attacks in big public rooms sometime last year, but the anti-abuse tools have become much better and I haven't seen anything but few random spam DM's for months.
Perhaps the rooms in question are not moderated well and/or not protected by anti-abuse bot. Spam & abuse exist, but they are no longer a big problem like year ago.
For example Meowlnir is a great tool:

No, it isn't FUD. It is my literal experience of using Matrix.
Even "a few" random spam DMs is more than I get on other messaging tools. -

Also, what would be the correct way to handle abusive servers on federated network? I don't see other way that blocking servers that allow spam accounts and ban individual users as soon as possible. All this applies also to Mastodon an any federated services.

@cos Ah, victim blaming is it? Nice!
I don't seem to get any spam, abuse, or hate messages on Mastodon. I only got them on Matrix.
Face it, Matrix is a dead-end. Its apps don't work properly, moderation is a half-baked afterthought, and their usability is poor even for seasoned geeks like me.
No need to reply, thanks.

@Edent Calling @eclectech - can you help with the above?
-
@Edent I've used https://hugin.sourceforge.io/docs/manual/Hugin.html
I have a script here using it's cli tool nona to do it, but I think it's using a config file which needs to be different depending on the exact model of camera, which that hugin tool created.
Been a while, can't remember exactly.

@Edent Calling @eclectech - can you help with the above?
@Malwen @Edent Ah, not directly I'm afraid. I use a combination of the software that came with my camera and some Clever Things that were put together for me that lets me edit the equirectangular projection then pulls them into my website.
I only do the silly bits, and copy and paste lines of code for the clever bits, BUT the person who worked out how to do all the interesting bits is here and might have some ideas. I think it might include ffmpeg. Calling @tootech for anything more useful!
-
@Edent I think you can do it in ffmpeg with the v360 filter. Something like this, but you'll need to tweak the parameters a bit:

I joined the Element HQ Matrix channel for a moment some months ago and saw disturbing imagery of children, and exceptionally bloody gore..
I left immediately, and have not had that experience with any other channel ever since. That said, Matrix / Element isn't my chat tool of choice, so it has mostly passed me by.
-
Boosted to see if any techies I talk to can help. Photosphere support seems to have gone out of fashion, sadly. I keep a Nexus 7 tablet because it does them really well.
It's entirely possible Hugin or GIMP can work with them, but I've never found that menu...
-
@Edent I think I'd try messing about with the `189` value.
Usually half a fish eye is 180°, not 189° — but I guess that's where the overlap comes from.

@derickr Yeah, the vague specs I can find suggest each lens is 200⁰ - the sweet spot for decent enough stitching is around 190ish.

Also if this were FUD I'd be shilling something else. May you have permanently wet socks and unidentifiable junk stuck between your most sensitive teeth.
Good day. -
@Edent If you enjoy the nerdery and want optimal results, try calibrating it. Take some images of chessboards at different angles and feed into OpenCV or similar.
One tutorial I found: https://medium.com/@kennethjiang/calibrate-fisheye-lens-using-opencv-333b05afa0b0
I'm guessing they do this in the factory and store the calibration in the firmware, to account for manufacturing variation.
