Fuuuuuuuuck me. Satya Nadella wants us to think of AI as “bicycles for the mind”.
Bicycles:
the most efficient form of human transport (on a sufficiently smooth surface). The human mind:
runs on about 20W or less.LLM slop engines:
run on absolute fuck loads of resource inputs for questionable returns. Why are tech CEOs allowed to be some of the most stupid people on Earth

…Julie Bort of TechCrunch writes that Nadella has shared his analogy in “classic, intellectual style”.
It’s not intellectual – in the conventional sense of that word – it’s performative idiocy coupled with deliberate misdirection

…In the spirit of LLM theft engines, Nadella is only stealing from Steve Jobs in 1990 anyway:
“somebody at Scientific American had the insight to test the efficiency of locomotion for a man on a bicycle … and that’s what a computer is to me. What a computer is to me is it’s the most remarkable tool that we’ve ever come up with and it’s the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds”

…To be fair to Nadella, his actual written words acknowledge the borrowing of the “bicycle for the mind” phrase, but he’s clearly in denial of what he’s building.
“We have learned a lot in terms of how to both keep riding the exponentials, while also accounting for their ‘jagged’ edges.”
Dude, you really, really have not

@urlyman Don't use an AI supported OS. Stop AI.
