Our regulations and warnings are written in blood. In this case, the blood of whatever project student did this if I catch them.
@afewbugs what's virkon?
-
@Pepijn I'm British, the politer we are the more threatened you should feel 😂

@afewbugs what's virkon?
@quixoticgeek a powerful lab disinfectant, used because it's very good at killing everything it touches: https://lanxess.com/en/products/brands/rely-on-disinfection/relyon-virkon
Not a powerful DnD villain, but frankly it should be. "I bring bad news, Lord Virkon. The heroes have escaped your dungeons!"

@CarstenBoll @Pepijn I mean you joke, but that is kind of how colonialism worked. The British codified a very elaborate system of etiquette and behaviour for how to treat people *you believe to be humans*, and then used the fact the rest of the world didn't adhere to this to justify that the rest of the world wasn't human

@afewbugs @Pepijn I was only half-joking. I have a board game about the EIC and office politics which I'd like to try out, but it's a... project.

"Accordingly, the game wrestles many of the key themes of imperialism and globalization in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and how those developments were felt domestically. As such, this game might not be suitable for all players. Please make sure everyone in your group consents to this exploration before playing."
Well there's a disclaimer you don't get with Game of the Goose.

@afewbugs @quixoticgeek I read that as laxness... use Virkon when your hygiene is a bit lax

The same publisher - but different head designer - has a game about queer life in early 18th century London.
"Throw grand masquerades and cruise back alleys while evading moralistic constables who seek to destroy your community. Be careful, there may even be informers in your midst!"
I haven't played it - a common trait for games in my collection - but the theme is unique and interesting and, you know, cool.

I've heard that it's a negotiation game at heart? Sort of like the old Republic of Rome - which I also haven't played but feel like I understand the basics of moreso than for John Company.
I've only really played Pax Pamir 2nd Edition and Pax Renaissance, which are very different games.
