Would you like to relive this day, Feb 2 2026, over and over again?
@evan I answered no because I'm over tired and my body hurts from PT, but the more I think about it the better it sounds. I could just repeatedly take PTO and sleep in. I wouldn't be able to make any progress on my projects, but much like the movie I could at least get a lot better at playing the piano and properly learn my other musical instruments. And I could call people and chat.

@evan I think the worst part would be having to periodically work on projects to maintain skills should the time loop ever end, but not being able to create any persistent artifacts that document my creative development, or create any record of my discoveries.

@aeva Have you seen "Palm Springs" (2020)? It's a similar premise. One of the main characters teaches herself quantum physics to figure out how to escape the time vortex.

@evan I’m conflicted.
Today my wife took our son out skiing, they’ll be away overnight. Since I’m alone at home, I took a day off work to have my first real “me day” in years.
At first glance, not a bad day to relive! Low stress, no outwards commitments, awesome!
After a few cycles though, I think I would be sad that my family leaves me every morning at 6 AM never to come back.

Diventerebbe quindi un caso mediatico, e non è difficile immaginare che ci sarebbero estensivi tentativi di trasformarlo in una cavia, o quanto meno assoggettarlo a tutta una serie di verifiche per cercare di capire il funzionamento di questa immortalità.
L'alternativa sarebbe di cercare di fare come gli immortali di Highlander, saltando di identità in identità e simulando la propria morte ogni volta.

In "Storia della filosofia occidentale" (lettura consigliatissima) Bertrand Russell confutava i sillogismi basati su "Tutti gli uomini sono mortali" dicendo che possiamo saperlo solo di quelli già morti, ma non abbiamo alcuna certezza per quelli ancora vivi.

@oblomov io voglio l'anteprima dei risultati, dopo mi pronuncio... sai com'è "attento a quel che desideri, potrebbe anche avverarsi" (e spesso trattasi di figate che si rivelano sfighe pazzesche)

@oblomov Si, ma la mia condizione (due in realtà) è che l'immortale devo essere solo io, altrimenti non cambia nulla, anzi è peggio. E che quando le cose andranno completamente in merda, e succederà sicuramente, avere la possibilità di ricominciare e rifare tutto meglio. Una specie di reincarnazione ma consapevole.
Lo so che questo pone altri problemi e domande da analizzare.

Ora veniamo alla questione lavoro, che poi in realtà dovrebbe essere piú una questione «immortalità e società», ovvero: come reagirebbe le nostre società al caso di un singolo individuo (o una manciata di individui) che avessero ottenuto l'immortalità (almeno in termini di “non morire di vecchiaia”)?
Per cominciare, il soggetto in questione finirebbe intanto nel mirino della guardia di finanza dopo aver superato tutti i limiti attualmente considerati per la vita umana.
