Are there hosted solutions or public hosts for Gopher servers? Is self hosting the only option these days?
I have no need for a Gopher server but I'm curious.

@amoroso You can join SDF or one of the tildes. Many pubnixes give you gopher and/or gemini hosting.

@amoroso Any of the tildes (I do exist on tilde.town, but SDF and lots of others) will have a public_gopher in home dir, you can just put a gophermap file in.
But, both motsognir & gophernicus are easy to run if you have your own server.

@mdhughes I've been a longtime occasional user of SDF but forgot about Gopher hosting. I'm not into self hosting.

Iâm seeing people start to take interest in ICE subpoenas. They are understandably new to many of you. But I used to respond to subpoenas in my old job, and would occasionally receive an ICE subpoena.
The first time I got one, I remember thinking âhuh. I didnât realize DHS had an independent subpoena power.â So I went and looked up the enacting statute. *Like any lawyer in my position is supposed to do!*
and I figured out pretty quickly that the subpoenas requested information that was waaaaay beyond the scope of enacting statute which permits them to be used *only* to obtain information ârelating to the privilege of any person to enter, reenter, reside in, or pass through the United States or concerning any matter which is material and relevant to the enforcement of this chapter.â 8 U.S. Code
