23 years ago, I started organizing communities.
15 years ago, I joined the wave of "next-generation" forums that popularized community as an enterprise feature.
7 years ago, I began reflecting on everything I'd learned in a notebook.
3 years ago, I drafted a few core "beliefs".
6 months ago, I rewrote them to start getting feedback.
Yesterday, I published my 5 beliefs:

No protocol can save us, because the challenge is not existing technology, it's unexamined assumptions. I want to dare to believe in something different.

Those 5 principles are spooking me because I don’t think we’ve met but you’re narrating my own thoughts…
I’m at the beginning of a bumpy meander trying to pitch community-first social tech to urbanism and climate orgs. May I add your page to my reference heap? -

kris@outmo.de Piefed and Lemmy are link aggregators, but a couple of those next-gen forums (notably, nodebb@fosstodon.org) have joined the fediverse.
Different strokes for different folks, but sometimes a good honest forum UX is the ideal path forward 🙂
