I took a look at the MacBook Neo at the Apple Store today.
Mmm, that lime green color is tasty! And I love the fact there's no notch! š
Everything about this little computer is cute and fun. It is absolutely going to be a Gen Z/Alpha hit.
I probably wouldn't buy it for a perhaps esoteric reason: I'm too attached to P3 wide color gamut! I looked at my own website and immediately missed the vibrant orange shade. š¢
Maybe a future revision of the Neo would be perfect for meā¦

@jaredwhite I'm walking a friend away from it, 'cause it's not that much cheaper than a refurb Air M2 with an actually usable (16G) amount of RAM...

@danlyke @jaredwhite and added bonus of the M2: you can easily install Asahi Linux on it

@_elena yeah, I think the only down-side to an older M2 is lower battery life. That's kind of application specific.

@danlyke @jaredwhite I buy nearly all my electronics refurbished on Backmarket.com and you can select the status of a battery, opting for premium / like new⦠even for old computers (when they have it in stock).
I got an iPhone 13 Pro last year (it would have been 4-5 years old by then) and selected a premium battery⦠it looked new and itās still at 100% battery health a year later!

@_elena ooh, thanks for the resource, though they don't seem to have anything 16G right now.
Gonna hang on to them for Windows laptops that could be turned into Linux ones, though.

@danlyke @jaredwhite in Europe they frequently renew their stock (Iāve bought stuff from Italy and France).
Keeping my fingers crossed you can find an M2 with at least 16GB of RAM⦠and with a new battery š
