Ok fediverse, I want to start streaming video games again. Which #peertube instance would you recommend I join? I'll be focusing on retro point & clicks and indie point & clicks. Ideally one where I can integrate chat to my channel (I'm brand new to this approach).

@FediThing I have my eye on that one! I'm drawn to it but I worry about the 30gb limit. I guess I can limit my uploads to highlights.

@pdsmix I think a 7gb upload limitation would be a bit too little đ I had a look at some videos I made in the past and they were around 3gb. That means I wouldn't be able to have a library of past streams.

@oblomov Ok, there's ONE possibility that comes to mind: Donations. Several websites do it. Wikipedia is one example (not for videos of course).
But I guess it depends on a case-by-case basis on how big you can grow w/ only donations.
There might be other ways, too, idk.

@bovaz @oblomov I don't claim to have all the answers, but I know enough to know that paywalls are NOT a replacement for moderation.
Just look at X where the paying users also tend to post the most unhinged pro-nazi trash.
The argument for making "posting videos free" is that authors provide the actual value to the site. Without authors, YouTube would crumble to dust.
I am tired of the ideology that says creative ppl need to be THANKFUL to be ALLOWED to present their work.

@marcell_o Per legge è comunque considerata unâarma bianca, e se la porti con te senza un valido motivo può diventare un problema. Anche un semplice taglierino se tenuto in tasca senza una giustificazione concreta può essere contestato e usato come elemento a tuo sfavore.
Non puoi mai sapere in che situazione potresti trovarti, e proprio per questo è sempre meglio evitare di portarsi addosso oggetti del genere se non strettamente necessari.
