@pfefferle hi! I’ve installed the plugin on my site nescia.nl/anna, which is a sub-blog using Wordpress multisite. It has created @anna but doesn’t seem to post anything. (There is a subsite “anna” and a user “anna” which posts most but not all blogs on the site.) Are there things I need to configure in the plugin?
@venite @anna that is, because WordPress does not support subfolder blogs out of the box.

@pfefferle I saw that, but isn’t the multisite thing native wordpress? That is, nescia.nl is a Wordpress site itself and /anna is one of multiple subsites. Won’t I break those?

@venite this is mainly a specification issue/requirement. WebFinger (Mastodon uses that for @username@domain.tld identifiers) has to run in the domain root. So if you map this root WebFinger handler to one of the subfolder blogs, this will be the only one that is possible to federate. This is why we do not have a default handling for that. Happy to explain it in more detail (not that easy with only 500 chars 😉):

@pfefferle yes… stop people from posting entire 6 page articles on here. It ruins the timelines and makes everything unreadable! 😵💫

@pfefferle Could you recommend a trick to auto insert the Reactions Block under all posts on a classic theme? For example, I could add it using an 'ad inserter' if there was a shortcode. Could I do something similar with a copy-pasted snippet of full code? Thanks!

Agreed that Mastodon 2022 / Bluesky 2025 is far from a precise correspondence! But while fedi's ecosystem is very diverse in some ways (and I agree that's a fundamental asset), it's much less diverse in others. Similarly the ATmosphere ecosystem is very diverse in some ways.but much less diverse in others. So my guess is that most fedi projects have an analogue in the ATmosphere -- not as far along because it's newer, and we'll see how many continue and how many wind up as dead ends.
Of course there are plenty of exceptions. Off the top of my head, I can't think of ATmosphere analogies of Bonfire, Frequency, or the friendica/Hubzilla/(streams)/Forte family. Then again there are also ATmosphere projects where I can't think of any fedi analogy: Blacksky, Gerrm, XBlock labeler, Anisota, Semble (a sense-making app). And some of the ways the ecosystems aren't diverse mirror each other; for example both are very Europe/US/Canada-centric.

Bot accounts on #Mastodon should be able to be flagged as "do not cache".
Having to hit F5 to reload the page every 30 minutes like as if it was still the early 2000s or something to play @fediplayssnake

Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The #ActivityPub protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesn’t make any sense even.When I use #Pixelfed, I do that to see pictures only. That’s the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like #Mastodon.https://ploum.net/2025-12-04-pixelfed-against-fediverse.html
