Please recommend me a #Linux desktop for my daughter’s laptop. #Ubuntu just refused to boot yesterday. Also all that #snap shenanigans… Looks like I need something more stable, but less harsh than #Debian. #Mint maybe?

I use Linux Mint Cinnamon and it's easy to use. When I was looking to switch to Linux lots of people suggested Mint because of it's stability and easy of use. So far I've had very few issues and the ones I did have, I was able to find tutorials on YT or asked on here and received help quickly.

I actually would use plain debian (personally with KDE) on mine if its hardware isn't extremely new.
I just like how hassle free it goes.
I've got it on a laotp and a desktop, and you can still install a flatpack for a few programs that you need to be extremely up to date while having low maintainance.

I've got some with Manjaro KDE too, they work good too, but it's a tiny bit more to manually maintainance after an upgrade sometimes (seldom)

Immutable image means if you fuck it up you just reboot and there it is again, working as before.

Mint is just Ubuntu with a custom desktop and installer. Lmde is just debian with the same desktop, installer and snap on top.

All software will fail now and then.
Just try troubleshooting.

Why is Debian harsh?
