@danirabbit thanks to your post from last week I got a much better understanding of the actual requirement. The idea of selecting an age bucket during account setup that the OS can report on as required is a lot more user respecting and privacy preserving than any of this ID/face scanning nightmare.

Have you decided on how Elementary OS is going to deal with the California law on this yet? If so, is there a link to a policy post we can read on that? No matter how one slices it, the CA law (and pending one in Colorado too) seem really terribly worded to me.

There is a very good chance that the california thing only lasts a few days and then gets cut down in the courts for being unconstitutional just like the texas app store bill did if its not "stillborn" by then.
