@afewbugs @vjprema Good to know! Although the culture on Lemmy seems a bit nastier than the culture on Mastodon. It's more Reddit-like...which is appropriate, I guess.

Yeah I'm a bit careful about using it TBH. The design attracts a certain type of person and behavior ("Reddit user") but on the other hand it allows stories deemed as important to easily filter to the top, compared to mastodon where it is chronological order with filters. I like to use it mainly in a read-only way with minimal interactions. Some communities on there are nicer than others if you look around. I find it more interesting and less "bot-like" than Reddit.

@vjprema @Quasit I'm just discovering Lemmy, I had high hopes for it as something the Fediverse doesn't really have yet as far as I can tell is a replacement for Facebook groups. So that's a bit disappointing 😢

@afewbugs @vjprema It's also a replacement for Reddit...but it seems to be a bit contaminated with Reddit's nastiness.

Have you checked out BookWyrm.social? That's a good Fediverse alternative to GoodReads.
