Perhaps unsurprisingly, threads.com seems increasingly broken from an #ActivityPub perspective; subscriptions to external accounts frequently fail, and it is not picking up posts from certain user accounts.

I know, many of you will be unsurprised or even quite happy this is the case, but it is not good. #Meta should not get a free pass on this.

@jim Is anyone tracking how many Threads accounts actually federate month-by-month? The lack of chatter makes me think that Meta has changed their minds about AP, and are just waiting a discreet interval before switching it off "for lack of adoption".
I did and do want Threads' AP integration to succeed. Not enough to unblock them. But, you know. In the background somewhere.

@mat I think probably Meta's motivation originally was to establish trust and accountability for their new Twitter replacement where they had none. So there is every chance they will change their minds I agree.

@mat Interesting if it is mere coincidence, but I cannot get #Threads accounts to follow @Flipboard accounts at all #interoperability #activitypub

jim@social.openrightsgroup.org it's likely a coincidence... Flipboard accounts are sometimes groups (most of the time?) so that could cause issues with group-unaware implementations, which Threads may very well be.
