Sigh, time to stop using Firefox. I'm running out of options. I like Mullvad, but I also want to keep some of my history. Any suggestions for decent browsers? #firefox #mullvad #chrome #browser #tech #technews #enshittification #openweb #ai

@yoasif E2EE, until your password for Firefox Accounts gets compromised (anyone with the FxA password can decrypt your sync key stored in Mozilla's servers. Even if their device is not synced and the account has no synced devices). And knowing that many people will still reuse their passwords across different services, this is not a remote possibility. Mozilla can still be forced by authorities to hand over a user's sync key, and if said authorities know that their target has likely reused their password for Firefox Sync with another website that got a breach, well that user can just hope that there's nothing incriminating in the synced data...They shouldn't have replaced Sync 1.1 (aka Weave) with its J-PAKE where the sync key never leaves the synced device (the only thing the server will have is encrypted data it can't read, even if the sync password gets compromised).@fizzo @jbz

@chpietsch the ones I'm evaluating at the moment are @palemoon (one of the oldest hard forks, from the XUL times, has native RSS and Atom support, engine has kept mostly up to date with evolution of web standards) and @Waterfo, less known than @librewolf but has better support for JPEG XL in my experience.

@oblomov No it will probably go towards some random service they'll launch or buy and then kill off a year or two later. No money is allowed to go directly to Firefox development. That'd seemingly break some unwritten rule of our universe.Regardless, I picked up a shirt and stickers because I still like promoting Firefox and Firefox-based browsers like Zen (which is the biggest contributor to most at my work migrating -- replacing their use of Arc). The less Chromium in the world, the better.
