You think software documentation is bad?

You think software documentation is bad? Try a datasheet.
"Keep copper away from the SW node."
How far? Doesn't say.
"θJA measured on JEDEC standard board." A mystical lab-produced artifact with four layers, 0.2mm drills, and impeccable impedance. Real boards? Get bent.
"For the value of R1, see Equation 7.
Equation 7: R1 = (VREF / ISET)"
Then you realise VREF isn't in the electrical characteristics table, and ISET depends on temperature. You go looking and find them buried in something that says:
"Assumes typical silicon, see Figure 69."
Figure 69: "Measured with Rcomp = 12.7 kOhm."
Where did Rcomp come from? Oh, AN1337, an app note from 2009 scanned from a fax.
That app note? "Assumes a standard four-layer PCB with 1 oz copper." What does that mean? Copper where? Good luck figuring it out.
