It has been so long since I ran a #BSD that I don't even remember which BSD it was. (I could probably dig up that info...)
Circa 20 years ago I used to run BSD gateway/router machines.
I think I'd like to do this again, for a variety of reasons.
But which BSD should I run for this kind of network gateway. It won't host any applications, it won't be a NAS, it'll purely be network/gateway... it'll have the telco router on one side, internal network on another, and one or two DMZ/separate type networks (one for hosting external facing things like Mastodon, the other for untrusted IoT stuff.) It'll run dhcp, dns, and probably be a VPN endpoint.
I do not want to run some specialist gateway adapted customised thing with dashboards etc, just want a plain vanilla OS. (And no bullcrap like containers, docker, etc. Just an OS running on a physical box.)
So, what OS should I run on my network gateway: #OpenBSD, #FreeBSD, #NetBSD

@grep_harder non è affatto illusorio, se uno sa come viene nominato il CSM e come dovrebbe operare secondo Costituzione, la Costituzione che non a caso le destre italiane hanno ostacolato dal giorno dopo della sua stesura. Ma poi, che ragionamento sarebbe quello di eliminare il CSM invece di farlo funzionare come previsto? Per quale motivo poi il controllo politico dovrebbe funzionare meglio, soprattutto oggi che i nostri politici sono il peggio del genere umano? Non hanno argomentazioni, punto.

@G3rt direi che sperare che sia la Magistratura ad autoregolare sé stessa sia illusorio. Gia Milena Gabbanelli, nel 2021, aveva dimostrato come i giudici siano essenzialmente impuniti anche davanti a situazioni imbarazzanti. Insomma, qualcuno deve metterci mano, prima che la situazione diventi irrecuperabile.

@grep_harder sarà cioè il "politico" a controbilanciare il potere giudiziario. Questo aprirebbe un vulnus micidiale. Come nel ventennio sarà il politico a indicare alla magistratura quali tipi di reato lavorare primariamente. Nel ventennio la corruzione era la norma tra gerarchi, politici e borghesia, ma ad essere indagati erano dissidenti, ladri di polli e biciclette, con il solito giochino di spostare le minacce sul "nemico interno": anarchici, comunisti, dissidenti, ladri...

@grep_harder appena avrò tempo proverò a farti vedere che, rispetto al problema che denunciavi, la riforma della giustizia non solo non risolve ma peggiora. Per controbilanciare il potere della magistratura i padri costituenti, in alternativa al controllo politico, ricordando l'esperienza del fascismo, pensarono al CSM. Giovanni Leone, diversamente da Calamandrei, era per il controllo politico. Alla fine si convinse anche lui per il CSM. Con la riforma passerebbe di nuovo al controllo politico..
