I watched North by Northwest again yesterday. The last time I watched was in high school (and our teacher was creepily giddy about explaining to us the symbolism of the final scene of the train going into a tunnel), so it had been a good while. So I'm obviously late to this realization but: Mission Impossible 2 is basically the same high level plot line. And I suppose plenty of others, as well.
@dillyd
Is that the one where he’s kidnapped and then tries to figure out where they took him by sound? The key was the geese that he thought was a cocktail party. -

At least, that's the one I know with the geese and the cocktail party. North by northwest: he's kidnapped because he's mistaken for someone else

@dillyd I remember when I was in 9th grade, my English teacher having fun teaching us the dirty jokes in Romeo & Juliet. I wonder if your teacher was approaching it from that point of view--teenagers love dirty jokes?
But yeah, I can see how getting giddy over the tunnel scene with a bunch of kids would be different...

I'm sure it was that! And of course we all thought it was interesting. It's more in retrospect that I find it creepy. -

I think Hitchcock did it first, but can’t remember which one. Or maybe my memory is… forgot the word. -
