Walking in winter wonderland. I walked through the mist between the grass fields covered with snow and frozen ditches. The sun broke through and four short-eared owls were sitting in the shade by the water's edge. As I was watching them, a fifth flew in and landed on the frozen ditch between me and the four short-eared owls. The landed short-eared owls looked at me with a piercing gaze.
