@mike @matt @_elena I said that same thing when I got on stage (after her!). I'm not sure I was a good follow-up act... 😜

We had to leave earlier, but coincidentally, after my last post, I was fortunate enough to meet two people in person who enrich the #Fediverse: @quintessence , as well as @_elena It was awesome! It was nice meeting you two! I could also explain the federation concept applied here, in e-mails and Matrix to two young women who studied computer science.Unfortunately, I cannot attend the event during the weekend, but it promises to be really good! Hopefully, I can watch some presentations later, even from the airport..#fediday #BerlinFediDay #fediday25 #federation

@toddsundsted Having said that — quote-posts existed on the Fediverse years before Mastodon implemented them. For example, Misskey and its forks have had quote-posts for years! (Other Fediverse software, too.)And, they work differently than Mastodon-style quote-posts.So, if you wanted to support quote-posts, you would also have to (explicitly or implicitly) decide on what style of quote-post to support. Mastodon-style? Misskey-style? Etc?

Is there any fediverse software to create groups that are findable for anyone, but can only be read by members? I have a bunch of use cases where I'd like to try and offer an alternative to FB groups, which has become the staple go to solution here in Sweden even among people who intuitively dislike FB. #fediverse

Release v2.4.16 of Ktistec... because I forgot to include some critical code in v2.4.15... namely, the menu.ChangedReorganize the admin menu.If you're not planning on adding additional users, you don't need to update!#ktistec #fediverse #activitypub #crystallang

@pmidden places.pub is there, now we just need a federated reviews platform...

#Fediverse profile = blog

I requested a public figure turn on #threads #activityPub #Fediverse bridging by finding a contact email address on their webpage and including this message.Greetings,I'm writing to request that you turn on the fediverse bridge on your Threads account. This will allow me, and others on the 'verse, to follow your posts and updates without having to agree to Meta's EULA and give them access to personal data nor use freedom denying closed source non-free software that I don't want to.They have instructions for how to do so here: https://help.instagram.com/760878905943039Feel free to copy/paste if it makes it easier for you to do similarly. Let me know if you get any positive responses and any improvements to this general message that are made. Maybe we can create something that makes it even easier for others to do similarly.

I just set up a fedi open market place using #flohmarkt which you can find at https://market.andmc.ca it's currently serving the GTA in Canada (Greater Toronto Area) after a few days if it goes well I'll expand it to other parts of Canada#fediverse #FOSS

@stephtara no, this should work on all plans!

Experimental support for multiple users landed with Ktistec release v2.4.15. "Experimental" means that it works for me, but hasn't seen enough testing for me to call it "ready for production". With that said, it's unlikely you'll lose your data. There are lots of intentional design decisions that fit my vision for Ktistec but may surprise you. Here they are:Every user is an administrator. That doesn't mean users have access to each other's posts and data, but it does mean all users have access to the shared parts of the site—they can change the site description, for example—and they can add new users. So only add people you trust. If you want to add another user, create an account for them and give them their username and password.  There is no self-registration. There are no invitations.Beyond adding a user, there is no support for user management. You can't even boot a user from your site. Users can delete themselves, however. There is no support for content moderation. Only add people you trust.TL;DR Multi-user support in Ktistec is suitable for small teams, families (biological or chosen), and your personal avatars. There are better tools for online communities. Here's the full set of changes:AddedAdd support for multiple user accounts.FixedHide attachments behind the summary. (fixes #125)Mark actors as up after refreshing their profile.#ktistec #fediverse #activitypub #crystallang

Your blogging options with federation are: WordPress, Ghost, and WriteFreely

@julian Pretty much my intention, even though that is SO BAD for an ADHD brain.I'm going to end up taking notes on deep decarbonization of fediverse intermobility urban networks bridging Halifax during extreme Bonfire events ....(yes I am still mashing up "fediverse" and "urbanism" but whatever gave it away?)

Hey, yeah, please tell the Linux Nerds people to turn on federation! Tell them Julian from NodeBB will help them get started 🤓
