@eowyn I had problems with weaving a long time. Until I got a speedweave clone. After a few mends I'd understood the concept and ditched the metal thingie. But I still use the wooden base with the rubber. A small embroidery hoop probably would work as well. The most important thing is to really fix your field of repair: it has to be rectangular, straight and at even tension. For socks at about the tension the fabric has when it's worn. And then just work until the hole is covered.
