I'm sooo proud of my first contribution to the #FreeBSD #Ports tree. Although it were only 3 characters. Although I don't understand what @dvl is apologizing for -- "I'm sorry, I did not mention this PR in the commit message."The only things I needed was an account at bugs.freebsd.org and this short chapter from the Porters Handbook. @winterschon yes I have the boot log from both succesful and failed images. After numerous trial and errors (manual hook, compiled u-boot for r2s plus via ports), I found that there is no trust.img from FreeBSD, that's why nanopi skipped the sdcard. I flashed armbian (working image) trust.img to the sd card and Nanopi showed loader error.maybe I need to recompile the u-boot with ATF load turned off?

@winterschon@mastodon.bsd.cafe My concern with the Mikrotik PCI-E card is the lack of a switch chip, meaning the CPU can very easily eat into the line rate potential for traffic forwarding. That's why it never has caught on with a regular DPU / Smart NIC, in my book.
