So this was mostly a play on the concept of "street photography". The street is the literal subject, but everything about it - the absence of people or any depiction of street life, the use of a heavy, tripod-laden camera, the compositional formality - defies the conventions of that genre.
Also caught a very brief glimpse of this lovely shiny red beetle as it scuttled through the undergrowth. “Cool” is so relative, right? The first thing that pops into my head is a stereotypical 1950’s motorcycle gang with pompadour haircuts, leather jackets, and a cigarette hanging out of their mouths.
But to me? I think this is cool. I’ve always thought creatures large and small are cool. Especially when you can appear to shrink down to their scale with #macro #photography and take a peak into their universe.
