Summer didn't get out for a run yesterday and today wasn't looking promising.
Until
We decided to run down to the beach quick like.
Sadly everyone else had the same idea so it was grand central with cars, humans, dogs and horses going every which way.
I decided to head for a turnout less traveled. I should have assumed that there was a reason we were the only car. The trail from our parking spot to the beach looked rough but doable. About halfway to the beach it disappeared entirely.
We were sort of lost. I knew we were getting close to the ocean so I had Summer push ahead.
I was hoping to find an easier trail back.
We did find another trail.
Not so easy though.
I asked Summer to find the car so she navigated the dunes by following deer trails.
What an adventure.

We made it.
Summer deserved her treat.

My husband reminded me, when we got home, that all good pilots do a 180 when the way forward is unclear.

Questa è qualcosa su cui io rimugino da età insospettabili, e forse l'unica cosa che è cambiata nel tempo è di aver fatto piccoli aggiustamenti alle condizioni.
Il classico è associare l'mmortalità all'eterna giovinezza, e CI STA, ma bisognerebbe anche capire cosa si intende per giovinezza (max 20? 25? 30?) e capire se questa eterna giovinezza significa anche una certa incapacità di maturare psicoemotivamente o se è solo una questione fisica.

Almost 22 years have passed since this photo was taken, in my university-era bedroom.
I had already graduated and I was doing things I truly enjoyed.
I was about to move out, even though nobody knew it (I was taking notes on my Palm about what to pack, but messiness was the norm, so no one got suspicious). I also had a slightly swollen gum, so I was smiling without showing my teeth, and I had mouthwash on the desk.
And that smile was one of mysterious satisfaction, anticipating what was about to happen soon.Perhaps the most enigmatic Italian smile since the Mona Lisa.
