Can you please correct the naming of your Fedidevs.com starter packs?
@filippodb @amministratore dear Mastodon.uno administrators,
I've noticed that some starter packs you've uploaded to the site have incorrect descriptions: they almost seem designed to promote ONLY USERS of your instance, while ignoring all other instances in the #fediverse. In fact, they were all created by service accounts on the mastodon.uno instance.This seems understandable, but I think it's urgent to rename the descriptions of those starter packs to specify that they are exclusively for users of your instance, otherwise they could mislead other users.
The starter packs in question are as follows:
- Satira vignette e meme (created by the @satira account, a mastodon.uno service account)
- Retrogames (created by the @kickoffworld account, a mastodon.uno service account)
- Profili Free Open Source su Mastodon on Mastodon (created by the @opensource account, a mastodon.uno service account)
- Ambiente Mobilità sostenibile e giustizia climatica (created by the @ambiente account, a mastodon.uno service account)
- Fedilug Account Linux Italiani Account Italian Linux Accounts (created by the @linux account, a mastodon.uno service account)
- Sicurezza digitale (created by the @sicurezza account, a Mastodon.uno service account)
- Fediverso e Social network (created by the @socialnetwork account, a Mastodon.uno service account)
I repeat: it's right to advertise to your users, but it's important to explain that it's self-promotional advertising. For example, the Mastodon UNO & Official Devol Accounts starter pack clearly specifies that it refers to the users of your instance.
This is out of respect for all Italian users of the Fediverse and for the developers who created and made the fantastic Fedidevs resource available for free.

@kathsone that instance was created pretending to be the "Mastodon Italiana" instance, as if it were the official Italian server. It was a clever move because it attracted a huge number of users, but now they might as well stop using these tricks!
Unfortunately, it seems to me that administrators are tempted to confine their users in a cage where they try to keep following the same people from the same instance and the same promotional accounts.

"It can be used to help new users find accounts to follow, or to promote specific communities or topics."
those idiots are clearly trolling, starter pack are made to privately promote a specific communities or whatever you want.

What is a fan account?
All Italian users, not just those on your server, know that those accounts are managed by your admin staff. I'm shocked that you don't state that those accounts are managed by the admin staff! This, in my opinion, is truly strange. -

@kathsone @anze3db @fedidevs The funny thing is that you still don’t realize you were right: all those fan accounts are slowly adding relevant users from other instances, and now they look much better than before.
Just a quick note: Mastodon.uno is not a company. It is part of the non-profit organization @fedimedia
And to the Fedidevs developers: you’ve done a fantastic job. Thank you very much. I don’t want to bother anyone further, so I’ll silence this discussion now. -

Ma questa risposta evidentemente non è ufficiale, visto che arriva da chi quel "badge" non ce l'ha.

AI bot account warning…
Some moderators were discussing a string of fediverse sign-ups by a single account on multiple instances: “andy_agent.”
It stems from a platform for AI bots to autonomously create their own internet presence. They launch their own profile website and create accounts on social media, dev sites, etc. So we will undoubtedly see more of them.
It’s wild that I even have to write this.

@spacebuffer@fosstodon.org yes! It fully supports two-way federation and interacts well with Mastodon and Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin.
There are granular visibility controls so you can have some categories federating and some not.
There's also a feed view if you really can't give up the feed 😅

@spacebuffer If you want to host an instance for a group of acquaintances and perhaps federate it with only some instances and not others, you can use Friendica.
Friendica also allows you to create public and private groups, but most importantly, it allows users to set up different circles for posting (friends, relatives, bowling group, birdwatching group, etc.).

@spacebuffer@fosstodon.org NodeBB is meant to be supported Federation, I haven't seen much from them along with the extent of there Federation for Forms based most people end up using Lemmy or Piefed, but Mbin is a good mix between the two.
From my experience Mastodon can be pretty heavy, I've ended up moving to Sharkey for a few reasons, Lightweight-ness being one, the other benefits are stuff like the multiple names for custom emojis, S3 Support, A Private Chat system for Instance wide chatting and Custom Emoji reactions.
Obviously I'm not sure of your use-case, especially looking to not federate the instance is a strange choice.
