  • Good morning,
    Good morning,
    Good morning,

I posted a few things over the past days, and some people noticed that I have been more absent than usual. I think it is right to give an update on the situation.

Starting in mid-December, my wife came down with the flu. Nothing serious, but it left her with a problem that all the doctors we consulted have identified as long flu. Similar to long COVID, it is a debilitating condition, at times completely disabling. She started a treatment, but had some issues and had to change it. This treatment, however, makes the symptoms worse for a few weeks before improving them, and the result is that we are currently in that phase: she is not well, she is worried, and of course I am too.

This has given me time, over the past weeks, to focus on projects like MastoBlaster, also to keep my mind active on something different, something good for my spirit and mental well-being.

But in these days, probably the hardest in years, I am in "emergencies only" mode, or almost. No tiramisu, few outings, some good lasagna - but mostly concern and hope for a return to normality. The doctors told her that in her case it is a temporary condition, but it is not clear exactly how long it will last, which is why there is a treatment, to help her live normally while everything gradually returns to normal. In the meantime, I am the solid part, but clearly I also have to take care of everything she usually handles.

Life is more often uphill than downhill, so we need to make the most of the good moments and not focus on trivial things. This is why I have always tried to make this place a positive and peaceful one: we all have battles to fight, serious or less serious problems, happiness and despair. Here, at least, we can focus on what you enjoy.

So I leave you with two coffees, made with my mother’s moka pot, which remind me of a peaceful day in this period when the sky outside and the climate inside are the same color: gray.

@stefano What beautiful cups. May your wife have a speedy recovery.

@stefano it will get better! I am myself still in crunch mode with kids, while working a full time job, lefting me sometimes with just 2 hours/week of free time for my self to choose between doing sport or some side projects. I am 8 years in in this kind of "hell", hope to gain more free time for myself in the future.

@stefano Allora, buongiorno.. Hard to read such a story that influences lives of my friends (even if just those virtual ones).

And I'm usually not that "optimistic kind" of guy, but hey - you'll see it'll get better. Sunnier days, wamer days, it will all help to see things in a more positive way. And I think that positive thinking and better mental energy also will help with the state of the body.

Sending best wishes from Prague 👋 ☕

@peterkotrcka thank you! Yes, spring should improve the general situation - both on physical and psychological fields. Have a great Sunday! Buona domenica!

@stefano Dear Stefano, as always, for the proverbial optimist that I am: that sunshine in you and your wife's life will return, swiping away the grey mood, inside and out. Big hug from Saigon 🫂

@stefano Hi Stefano, I'm very sorry to hear this. It sounds tough both for your wife and you as the person caring for her and supporting here where needed.
Wish you a great Sunday anyway, enjoy the coffees and I hope the situation will improve soon!

My wife has had M.E./Chronic Fatigue since she was 15 so I know how debilitating it can be. I take every day one day at a time. Some days she has really good days, and others she doesn't. I feel really blessed to have her in my life and couldn't imagine living any other way.

Joy can be found even in the grey.

Grandiose day! However I haven’t read the book yet thou’. I spent my evening today building a automation by forking Tinker hack Blusky integration for running playlist etc. I am halfway there but when I run tested it – the last block doesn’t seem to work so I’ve contacted them about it. I hope soon to get help. This year I did lot of techie projects for myself like vibe coding built ways for me after taking course on ai and then vibecoding snake game and all of that. Later, doing html/css course to understand the basics and loving it all and then jamming up with neocities more. This year I also got excited with Nothing community project challenge – and built a marketing plan even the date was done and all. As I got to know late – being so inspired by the brand I went ahead and did something cool too. Nothing has cool software and hardware. The UI is cool as they say it. Got back to the ropes of smartphones as I grabbed Vivo iQOO Z10X as my daily driver – as they call it! I’ve since loved watching tech videos alot. I do love tech. I am not very much diving into fitness gadgets as of yet. As that would just tumble me down of anxiety passage I find.Well, the Founder of Mastodon is giving the next baton to new guy. Felix! Also, Eugen did a wonderful job with Mastodon. I saw his interview on YouTube while dinnering my way up through the day. I also read how a 101 year old Barista has been serving since WWII – that was the good news over bsky this morning. Also one 87 year old lady did something cool – which I don’t recall. You know we don’t care much to remember good news as we keep bad news itched in our brain for like whole time and all. Bad news is impactful is it? It creates fear and then that becomes memorable all of a sudden. Ah!
