I am unable to install EU Login app in my phone because I use LineageOS and not the Google Spy Android.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission my knowledge is at least 10/15 years old, but this might be not your bank’s stupid requirement, it’s one of Visa’s or Mastercard’s. I had to be certified by Visa/Mastercad/Amex to do eft interfaces, not by banks. And when specific transactions were declined I had to contact specific departments and read pages of docs till I find the clause that says exactly the opposite than they were telling me for several days…

@jdelacueva @EUCommission use this in other platforms such as Linux phones (PostmarketOS, UBTouch, SailfishOS...) is science fiction.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission There should be other ways to login. I initially set up e-ID but my national agency did not let me use it, or said it shouldn't be used even though it was theoretically possible on the EU website. But i understand the trouble, when I have issues with some EU systems they tell me to use Google Chrome because that's what they optimise for, and I find that so frustrating.
@bluishgreen @jdelacueva @EUCommission What happens if you don't use any EU online portals at all? Can you still use an ATM wirh a bank issued card, and deal wirh bureaucratic things in person at a physical office?

@LukefromDC @jdelacueva @EUCommission It does not relate to that, using EU portals is mostly for applying for grants/research funding or some business services. I only really use to apply for funding. I don't have experience with other services but it is not related to banking or accessing basic services.

@jdelacueva mmm, install GPS (oldest version) then remove all permissions and cut all internet permissions (no background no wifi. So no data to GPS by doing this.. Then install ur EU app.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission I wanted to test, if MicroG is enough as Google Play Services replacement but I couldn't since it detected my device is rooted and therefor blocks it for "security reasons"

Hey there EU commission. As a Hungarian citizen I must ask, could we not do this? This is a short sighted and arbitrary limitation that does not add to security but strengthens our dependence on the US.

@mcc I so want this too. Moreover, I want some kind of standard/standardized compact/agreement/declaration/license that F/OSS projects individually could reference to declare that they agree with and enforce this stance: no "AI" contributions whatsoever. Have not yet found such a thing.
I agree that the distro level is the right place for this, but there's an argument to be made that it should go all the way down.

@johnlehet Yes; I am attempting to describe the product sold as "AI code assistants" without using the word "AI". It did not occur to me that "code" was ambiguous/a pun when I made the post.

@mcc Yes. I get that. So when you say “random code generators” you mean various LLMS inputting into the code base? Damn. I thought you meant that AIs were involved in the password generation, which as I understand it would also suck badly.

@ariadne okay. when i said "linux distribution" i was thinking "a collection of all the software you need to run a computer system" as that's what a distribution traditionally meant. (the existence of flathub somewhat complicates what i want, but like I said, I was being vague and flippant)

@mcc to be clear the proposed anti-AI policy only applies to the alpine project itself.

@mcc I'd argue that password managers are very easy to jump between. They tend to have good export and import functions. I've transitioned from keepass to dashlane to bitwarden to vaultwarden with little effort.
