Hey, Fediverse … Fedi advice needed.
SPOILER ALERT EDIT: I went with Mastodon.social
I’m looking for an instance to host an account for my book. I really like .art, but it has defederated a lot of instances so I’m concerned about reach.
I considered bookstodon, but don’t want to CW violence (my book is gothic horror). People like beige, but it feels off brand (see: gothic horror).So, suggestions?

@colorblindcowboy
Having moved around a bit, I might suggest looking at servers by size. I know a lot of people ignore the Local feed, but others really use it for discovery. (I’m in the middle of those two perspectives.)Here’s a Fedi search you can sort by server size with biggest servers on top. Then from there take a quick look at their characteristics, maybe somewhere will become a clearer choice out of those?

@colorblindcowboy I've been considering a move to kind.social. Seems like a decent place. Don't know if it fits your needs.

@colorblindcowboy mastoart.social? I know someone is setting up gotosocial.art, but I don't know the timeline or if they've decided on a set of posting guidelines yet
sunny.garden might work, but you might have the same CW issues as bookstodon, wandering.shop needs an invite, but it's author focused and you might know someone who could get you one

@colorblindcowboy dice.camp is nominally for tabletop gaming, but there's a lot of overlap there with horror fans.

@SRLevine Thanks! I actually did go with .social.
SunnyGarden seemed not quite on brand for my gothic novel.
Where is StormyGarden?

@colorblindcowboy two cents, but don't fear the CW. think of it as like a subject line in an email. even if the instance doesn't require a CW for horror, a lot of other people on other instances will appreciate having that. people are far more comfortable boosting content with CWs than accidentally horrifying their followers. and a lot of people have Masto set to always show CW'd content anyway. take some liberties with the CW to make it enticing too. once someone clicks on a CW'd thread, the whole thread is shown. beige does seem off-brand tho a jorts.horse gothic horror would be a fascinating study in worlds colliding. you can always post high-level things un-CW'd that don't get in to any horror detail but advertise your feed with things that do.
