Calling it for tonight! I’m saving shading and edge highlighting for tomorrow, as well as some details I want in retributor. I like the way this is heading! Also, the remaining pathfinders are slowly getting there as well (in the background). I still have the base, the shield arm (I have an idea for that one) and transfers to go, but the #riptide is coming along nicely. I can’t really tell if I’m happy or unhappy with this so far. I think it hinges very on the next steps where I’ll try to make a glow effect from the blue-white light emanating from inside the shield. I have this idea in my head about how I want it to look, or the effect I want to create, but I might not have the painting skills to pull it off in a convincing way. First try, and this did not turn out the way I imagined. Glad I only tried it out on parts of the shield. I’ll basepaint over and try again. And this time I’ve actually read a little about glazing, so I’ll use lahmian medium instead of water to thin the paint down. Any other tips or suggestions are welcome! I’m actually quite happy with how this turned out, all in all. Sure, some things could be improved, but overall I think it looks good, I had fun, and I got to test some new techniques, specifically dip my toe in OSL for the first time. Also, I still have transfers, the base and drones to go. Base done, in the same style as the rest of the t’au army: a dry, rocky «badlands» look, or at least so I imagine. Way too much Armageddon dust, way too much seraphim sepia, and drybrushed with screaming skull. Rocks are from my local park, with some elderly couple looking at me like I was an alien while I dug them up. Maybe adults aren’t supposed to dig up small rocks in the park. Putting the last transfers on now, and then I’ll finally glue the torso on.

I’m done! Transfers, drones, base and all. Sharing some final pictures. This was a fun project, and a great addition to my growing army. I’m particularly happy with how the glow effects turned out, since it was my first attempt at OSL, but I also see tons of room for improvement.
