Real change starts when we build power together.
I don’t have any personal animus toward Google, Microsoft, Apple, or any other tech giant. This isn’t some good-versus-evil crusade.
What I care about is something much simpler:
👉 I want to own the things I use.
Right now, I can’t own YouTube. I can use it—but only on Google’s terms. Those terms can change or disappear overnight. I don’t begrudge them for that. They built it, they run it, and they get to make the rules. Fair enough.
But that’s exactly why I want to build a PeerTube co-op. Not as a protest, but as a positive alternative—a place where the platform is collectively owned and governed by its member-owners. A place where I (and others) have a seat at the table on moderation, governance, and costs.
This isn’t about tearing anything down. It’s about building something new. Not because YouTube is evil—but because a PeerTube co-op could be awesome.
