Something I posted this morning reminded me that I have these photos I’ve been wanting to scan.
The Space Shuttle Enterprise was on tour, and made a stop at Dulles International in June 1983* (that’s the date on the back of the pics). I was twelve at the time, we got a spot up front. Here’s a few shots I got with my little instamatic camera.*I had thought it was when the Enterprise was delivered to the Smithsonian, but that was s couple years later.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise piggybacked on it’s 747 carrier at Dulles International Airport.

Bonus pics.
Here’s a couple shots from Summer of 1985 taken at the Strategic Air Command Museum in Nebraska.
The 1st is of a XF-85 Goblin, a short, egg-shaped jet fighter made to be carried under the wing of a bomber, it could be dropped, and would be recovered by the bomber.
The 2nd is of Avro Vulcan bomber XM573. I had forgotten it was there, until I found my old photo album a few years ago.3/2

I got to see Enterprise when she visited the UK. Unfortunately I have long since lost the photos I took!
