@zuru thanks for the advice! I asked my mom if I could put the nice ladybug on the basil plant my mom keeps downstairs but got a firm no.I was careful with water and sprinkled the makeshift home i made for her with literally 3 drops... but she wasn't all that interested and hasn't visited me in my room all afternoon 🥲

Ah yes, brew upgraded some ssl-related .so file and broke the python binaries linked against it. Again. So many venvs now lay in ruins. There has got to be a better way.(Why do pyenv-built pythons seem to habitually get built using the brew-provided libraries? There's no way for brew to know about that dependency.)#brew #python #macdev #complaining #askfedi

@dillyd From my experience, the Mastodon web interface has (had?) trouble disabling animations for .webm images. I have that setting turned off as well, and so far, I've only seen .webm images be animated without me hovering over them. Haven't seen this happen with profile pictures yet, but it would be a plausible explanation at least

I'm looking at the architecture of things like Fedora Silverblue, NixOS, and the Steam Deck. The concept of an immutable root filesystem with atomic updates seems like the technically correct way to do an OS. No more dependency hell, no more breaking the system with a bad sudo command. But the muscle memory of apt-get install / dnf install is hard to break. Containerizing everything (flatpak/distrobox) feels like a friction point for quick tasks. For those who daily drive an immutable distro: Was the learning curve worth the stability? Or is it still too much friction for a machine? 🤔#askfedi #linux #fedora #steam #steamdeck #NixOS #foss #opensource #programming #sysadmin
