Captured with the Rodenstock 40mm/4.0 HR Digaron-W lens (@ f/5.6), Phase One IQ4-150 digital back (@ ISO 50), Cambo 1200 camera (shifted vertically -8mm).
Opened as the London headquarters for the Michelin Tyre Co in 1911, and now a mixed commercial building, the Art Nouveau Michelin House features whimsical tire-themed ornaments and stained glass windows with the original Michelin Man "Bibendum" character in various, generally terrifying, poses.

I wish I had had more time to photograph this delightfully weird building, but I only had an hour or so before I had to leave for the airport that day. The hard morning light only illuminated this one angle reasonably acceptably.

@mattblaze I lived further down fulham road for one year. I used to bike quite frequently in front of that building, which is amazing, every single detail is awesome, from tiles to stained glass !

@Bromind They really don't make them like that any more. And the original Michelin Man was *terrifying*.

@stefano I wonder if this is perhaps a fundamental difference in design between some of the EU and US equipment.
Maybe it's only older equipment in the US that doesn't do this and Honeywell had to build it into the thermostat to cover themselves legally?

@MisterMaker No, maybe it's not special. But it's mine, and solved a lot of problems in the past, when those smart things wheren't even available. Sometimes you don't need rocket science to have some fun π

@feld My Netatmo doesn't do all that, and neither do the other thermostats connected to the other boilers I have access to.
Fundamentally, those are things the boiler handles (if it's less than 20 years old), not the thermostat. My boiler, even though it's 10 years old, has all these internal features; it also controls the water temperature, etc.
The thermostat is just for deciding if the house is cold or not - I expect all the other controls to be handled by the burner itself.
In other words, I'm not replacing the internal thermostat (the one that regulates the flow temperature, etc.), just the room thermostat. Besides, my sensor is located very far from the boiler, which is in a separate, ventilated room.
