The thing that I'm proudest of in the workshop is this weird cupboard. The walls of the workshop are made from prefabricated PUF panels (polyurethane foam sandwiched between two thin corrugated sheets of steel, with W-profiled side edges that interlock with each other). Once you cut off an edge, it can no longer interlock, and is therefore effectively useless. We had some cut-off panels left over, and they form the sides of this cupboard. The material is infuriating to work with. Cutting it releases a cloud of foam particles, and all of the holding strength comes from the very thin sheet steel. (It's not really meant to carry any load, anyway, just to be screwed on to a welded steel framework to make walls.) But I managed to work within its limitations, and build something that carries a considerable weight in a very satisfying way. Thanks to extensive internal bracing, I can load up the cupboard without worrying (and it's held up all this weight for several months with no ill effects). I'm pleased that I was able to repurpose leftover material that was otherwise unusable.#diy #workshop #woodworking

I built a drawer for my desk. First time using box joints (cut with a router). First time installing the bottom in a groove. Not all went as expected. The wood (10mm oak board) arrieved warped, probably due to temperature and humidity changes. A few mistakes were made here and there. Nevertheless I'm really happy with the result. #drawer #woodworking #holzwerken #wasMitHolz

@LillyHerself yes. And it's right beside my indoor workshop, connected with a door, which makes it brilliant for shuffling dirtier or noisier jobs into the garage. Pretty luxurious. 😂

This is probably the coolest act of precision I've done in a while. The wafer there was made by the spurs of the brad point bit when the holes met in the middle. This was done by eye with no guide of any kind using my bow drill. The part is going to be a measuring tool, so this is a good omen.#woodworking #diy #diytools
