Ugh π© I met my new doctor today, had my yearly exam, and got three vaccines.

@benroyce @LukefromDC @CppGuy @alice I'm shocked it actually exists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomato
@renata @LukefromDC @CppGuy @alice
there is also the tomacco
hybrid tomato-tobacco
the funny thing about that one is it was in a simpson's episode as a fictional plant. then someone successfully created it inspired by the show π
potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, tobacco, petunias, nightshade, etc:
it's all one closely related family of plants
i would argue the most generous plant family to humans, by far
-
makes me think of this:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7120417/
of course this idea fires up the whole genetic engineering debate
but i wonder: if people could just eat foods, and get vaccinated thataways, if antivax hysteria might disappear
(or maybe make it worse, from the conspiracy theory wing, even though this quells the needle hesitancy wing)

@alice @benroyce @lispi314 Good! Though you could make it even easier:
At my workplace, weβre offered some routine vaccines (Covid, influenza etc) right on the premises. Book a 10min slot through the intranet portal, walk over at the appointed time, present your health insurance card, get the jab.
If you donβt feel fit the next day, no problem: we can always take paid sick leave, and only need a doctorβs note from the third day onwards.

@alice @benroyce @lispi314 Not to be an annoying European, but when I lived in Denmark, not only did they have five weeksβ fully paid holidays, but one could take up to five mental health days a year, where if you woke up and thought βcanβt face work todayβ, you can take the day off.
And the bottom line is that companies make more money from happy and attentive people.

you're "annoying" to only a certain sort of american asshole, and if you aggrevate them, that's a plus in my book

@benroyce @renata @LukefromDC @CppGuy @alice nightshades are right up there with the brassicas: wild mustard, from which we derived broccoli, cauliflower, kholrabi, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, collard greens, rutabaga, turnip, mustard... the list goes on a bit

@benroyce @BashStKid @alice @lispi314 Agreed. The only βannoyingβ part is that Iβm jealous π - because , here in the US, peopleβs well-being isnβt important to the government - and a large part of the population votes to keep it that way.

I'd get them again in a fucking heartbeat, because science and social responsibility fucking rock π€

@Wyatt_H_Knott @alice @benroyce Travel for work is for work, it should be part of work hours and paid.

I always get shots done separate days. That way if I have a negative reaction, I know which Jab done me dirty.
@w_b I figure I'm going to collect them all like PokΓ©mon anyway, so might as well catch 'em all as soon as they're available.
