I'd get them again in a fucking heartbeat, because science and social responsibility fucking rock 🤘

i think "the day after a vaccine sucks" is a big motivator of the antivax movement
no one likes that day
but for a certain sort of painfully ignorant type of person, that is all vaccines mean
the whole "protect you from diseases that will REALLY make you miserable or deathly ill, for a week, a month, or years, possibly maim you, permanently, or possibly kill you" part...
you know, the fucking obvious
it doesn't matter to people who can't or won't think about really simple things

i know, scientifically, why some vaccines mount an immune response you can feel, and why some vaccines mount an immune response you can't feel
at the same time, i desire that every vaccination i get cause a following day of misery. because otherwise i worry it didn't take

Heroic! Worst vaccine reaction I ever had was about 4 hours of my immune system being mad at me. Most of the time I notice nothing.
But yeh, short-term pain, long-term gain.
@lemgandi I had a really bad reaction to my first Covid vaccine (like high fever and vomiting), but all the vaccines (Covid and otherwise) have been fine. This round hit me pretty hard though—not as bad as that first Covid one—but I do feel kinda lousy.

@benroyce @CppGuy @alice My oldest daughter hated needles, got VERY dramatic, but I didn’t give her a choice, we followed the schedule.
When it was my younger daughter’s turn, a decade later, the older one said, “look! no big deal!” and got her shots. Younger one went through the whole process more calmly (holding her sib’s hand, of course)
I stood there with my jaw on the floor. 🙄🙄
@grammasaurus my kid would nope out and we'd have to come back and try again sometimes.
One day I shared the story of how I got over blood draws (which I always hated, but reluctantly did). They tried it and said it wasn't that bad. Now they happily get their vaccines each year...and then tell me how much it sucks the next day 😋

@alice Last year when the measles outbreak started, I checked with my doctor if there was any way I could verify my vaccine. Turns out I was born in a period when they used a version known to quickly lose effectiveness, and sure enough my blood tests came back negative. Got a new MMR shot the next week. Can't believe I've gone carefree for so many decades and never caught it!

@strypey We're moving forward with end-to-end encrypted messaging over ActivityPub. https://github.com/swicg/activitypub-e2ee/ MLS, the encryption technology, was meant to scale to hundreds of thousands of people, but my guess is that AP E2EE chats will more likely scale to the more personal handful, max a couple of dozen. I don't think it's a Discord replacement, but it's in the mix.
