Listening to every Album: Gamma Ray
http://82mhz.net/posts/2026/03/listening-to-every-album-gamma-ray/@82mhz nice! I only wanted to dip into it, but ended up reading the whole post in one go.
I was vaguely aware of Gamma Ray, but I always thought they played a different kind of music. ๐
A friend at school was really into them, but he was also really into Slayer and Metallica at that time, so I thought Gamma Ray would be similar.
I'll have to check them out sometime. Power Metal is very hit and miss with me. There are bands I absolutely adore and then stuff I can't listen to for more than 30 seconds. ๐
I think both Battle Beast and Beast in Black fall into the Power Metal genre and are bands I can listen to all day every day. And then there's Blind Guardian, Halloween and Dragonforce that are not bad, but are somehow not for me. ๐ฌ -

Now THAT'S dedication, flying interstate to catch them playing live! I'm fortunate to be in Germany so they always played near me somewhere on a tour. But yeah, every time I went to see them it was so worth it! -

Battle Beast and Beast in Black are also Power Metal and pretty awesome! Though for me the softer, poppier Battle Beast songs which they released in the last couple of years were a bit too soft for me. I prefer the heavier, faster songs like Blade Runner from Beast in Black, or the older Battle Beast songs. But I wonder how they're going to develop now that Noora is out...If Helloween isn't your thing, then Gamma Ray might not be for you either; they feel very much like a continuation of 80s Helloween. But if you check them out, let me know what you think! Now you know what to listen to first ;)

Have you seen the new Battle Beast singer?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNzSfMTn4ss
Not sure I like what she's doing here... but I'll wait for the first original material before forming an opinion ;)
