Flight down Glencoe, done in a 80s/90s Sci Fi movie style.
Contours done in #QGIS , using data from Ordnance Survey Open ZoomStack
Used a trick to do hidden faces removal 1/2 :)

Trick to hidden face removal - do as curves in geometry nodes, then extrude vertically.
The contour lines are rendered in neon, and the vertical extrusions in matt black.
This keeps face counts way down, compared to using a landscape mesh 2/2

@sauc3 @mcc @slembcke also, the more contributors a project has the harder it is to guarantee none of them tried to pass off "ai" generated code as their own and managed to get it into review. Having a policy to at least require it be labeled so it can be given appropriate scrutiny might result in less of it getting in than an outright ban (and definitely less than having no policy at all). Hard to say, I'd rather ban it, but people are more honest when the answer is "maybe" instead of "no".

@sauc3 @mcc @slembcke to be clear, everything gets worse because of this, and the only difference is the speed of the metamorphosis into liquid shit. The BSD ecosystem (especially in the application space) is not exactly hermetically sealed off from the Linux ecosystem.

@sauc3 @mcc @slembcke there's also (hopefully) a difference between allowing "ai" contributions so long as they bear the mark of shame, vs a CEO mandating that all employees hook up the bullshit machine to their golden goose to foie gras it with entropy as fast as humanly possible

@sauc3 @mcc @slembcke if this is the news I think we're talking about, the Fedora project leadership voted to allow "ai" generated contributions provided that substantial uses of it are labeled accordingly. This would mean that software that is developed and maintained by the Fedora project may have "ai" generated code in it soon, but that does not necessarily mean that other Linux distributions are "infected". It also does not necessarily mean that other Linux distributions are not "infected"

So I guess my question is twofold.
Are all Linux distributions infected with "AI"? If not, which ones are safe to migrate to?
It doesn't have to be Linux either, it could be a Unix flavor like BSD, if that is an option. I, too, want to get as far away from "AI" as possible.
