Alone Season 4 watch thread.

Meanwhile, Brooke has found a tangled up net with a bunch of floats. And, despite her best efforts to not make a signal fire in eight+ days, her husband has found her.
It's gonna be Brooke and Dave, I think? They're not particularly good at anything, but they're not doing stupid shit over and over.

I will be stunned if Brooke and Dave don't win this one. They understand the assignment, and they seem to be the only people who do. No fucking around with boats and projects. They're fishing. They're chopping fire wood. They're not injuring themselves through foolishness.
They are cooking and eating in their camp, which, in ordinary circumstances would be bad news (they even know it and said so), but they're up against far larger incompetence.

Brody and Chris are out after one big rain. Once again, the weakest link pulled them out far sooner than the other would have chosen.
This season is a lesson in boundaries. Don't let your family talk you into things you definitely do not want to do, because it's going to suck far more when you back out after a few days.

Ted and Jim are a mess. I'm sorry I'm laughing at their misery, as they seem like good Canadian lads, eh. But, they sure aren't making good decisions.

Ted and Jim had a fantastic day, so of course it's time to get in the boat and end it all quickly. A boat made to address the problem of lack of food, so immediately after catching 16 fish and a duck right next to their camp, it's time to...get in the boat built for finding food?
No one who builds the boat escapes the boat.

The end is nigh for Jim and Ted. They have succumbed to the call of the sea.

Pete and Sam are beginning to hear whispers from the sea. It may be the end for them. The fish are just out of reach, you see, if only they had a boat.

Ah, they're hiking rather than building a boat. Still seems like a lot of effort to fish in the same waters, just on the other side. And, they have to travel at low-tide. Pete's a heck of a fisherman, though, and I guess the hike paid off.
Not building a boat may save them for another day.

Ted and Jim are a comedy of errors. They're both wrong about everything, and they fight over which wrong action to take. Jim yells at Ted about getting hooks in his hand, and then they do what Ted wants and Ted immediately gets a hook stuck in his hand. Perfect comedic timing. The editors are savage.

This is the funniest shit. I hope they have repaired their relationship since then, but it certainly makes funny TV.

I can't believe it. It has turned around for Jim and Ted, they're finding sufficient food, while Brooke and Dave and Pete and Sam are on real hard times.

@swelljoe their (Ted & Jim) constant complaining, bickering, and whining is what gives them power. lol (if I'm remembering right...)

@bryan they're hilarious. And, they make so many bad choices. And, yet, they're doing pretty good.
If they defeat the boat curse, I will be stunned.

Incredible. Brooke and Dave are out. I really thought they were going to be the ones. Not because of high competence, but because they didn't build a boat. They did build a pretty fancy house, while they were supposed to be catching and preserving more fish...so, in the end they succumbed to Projects.
Can't believe the boatmakers are going to win.

@swelljoe so ends the "pairs" on "alone". I'm glad (so far) they never did it again.

@bryan yeah, I think the pair concept is a mistake for a show called "Alone". Early game was just a bunch of weakest links calling it quits immediately.

@swelljoe I'm pretty sure Season 5 was specifically made the way it was to right the wrong that was Season 4.

@bryan yeah, I peeked ahead, and it seems to be all prior contestants. I don't see any rhyme or reason to who they brought back. Carleigh is there, so I thought it might be runners-up, but Britt is there and he was out pretty early in his season, and Brad was the first one out in season 4? Though I guess that wasn't his fault.
With Dave and Carleigh there, we know it won't be a short run. I wouldn't want to go up against the only two people who were ready to starve to death for half a mil.
