@CiaraNi I love the effect of all 5 pictures next to each other. From afar, the sea just looks like a black separation on some modern painting and it actually works

@jeolen That struck me when I saw them together in my gallery afterwards. An accidental effect.

@CiaraNi Absolutely fantastic. Before reading the alt text I was trying to work out what I was looking at -- maybe windows in a modern skyscraper reflecting a grey sky, maybe the internal steel-clad wall of a warehouse. Maybe even a fairly colourless Mondrian-style work of abstract art.

@losttourist Mondrian! Thank you! I said Rothko in the Alt Text, but I was thinking of Mondrian, I realise now.

People have been generously commenting on the preceding snowy beach images that are a bit 'what am I looking at?' abstract. For context, here's the scene a few steps before.
-
@CiaraNi I love these!
Have you come across the work of Jon Schueler? He painted seascapes.
A similar effect on a beach with fog.

@patrickhadfield I love your images of the Kintyre fog. So evocative and hushed.
I just looked up John Schueler - lovely style and feeling. Thanks for the name, which is new to me.

@CiaraNi Is that today? In Aarhus?

@CiaraNi I've got to wonder how many other Australians seeing this are also realising they've never imagined snow at a beach as a possible thing.
Once thought of, it's obvious really - but while we do have snow in places, none of them are anywhere near a beach.

@arratoon It's not. I put the place and general time in the Alt Text.

@geraldew I am imagining the same sense of upsidedowniness that we feel when we see photos from Australia of Santa Claus on a beach wearing shorts and sandals. Like the world's shifted out of orbit.

@CiaraNi Oh, duh. (I’ve barely been awake 30 minutes so please forgive me!)
-
@CiaraNi love these colors and the minimalist framing. Great!
-
@CiaraNi I didn’t look close enough and thought this was tile on a wall.
-
@CiaraNi these are the best. A point in time and place that can trap me for hours, possibly forever. so I'm torn: lucky I wasn't there to get trapped, but also I love it when the universe does these things, it's a power-up for the soul.
