OK, Alone is fantastic.

How am I going to get across all this water to find water?
I know this sounds like a joke, but that is literally what is happening here.
I mean, I guess it's saltwater. But, I think they're in a rainforest? They said this place gets 12+ feet of rain every year.
But, they're seemingly all drinking collected water without boiling or treating it. These folks are not gonna last long.

Maybe they've saved the competent folks for later. Two guys have boiled water in episode 2, including the "better float across this water on a rickety tarp raft".
This guy eating a banana slug, a notorious carrier of rat lung worm, seems like an avoidable risk? At least he thoroughly cooked it.

Doomed by misplacing the fire starter is relatable. I would definitely lose something vitally important to my survival immediately.

Ah, hell, his name is Joe. But, dude, you had a fire going when you lost the fire starter. Just keep it going forever. Where else you gotta be that you can't put a log on the fire every couple hours? Night time is a challenge, but if you keep it reasonably dry, you can stoke it back to life again in the morning.

OK, Wayne had a real bear scare. I reckon he's justified in bailing out.
Sam's looking awful cozy, though.

Dustin's a sweetheart, worrying about whether the other guys got their shelters up.

Oh, no, a guy who drank unboiled, untreated, water is having urgent stomach distress. Who could have predicted this?

I should not be laughing so hard about this. Nobody deserves this, but he literally asked for it? Don't drink water from a creek without boiling it, folks. Anyone going on a survival game show should know this.

Day nine!? We're only on day nine, and they're all talking themselves into leaving?
Also, dude is building a boat on day nine? You're still sleeping under a tarp and you're building a boat?
I am having trouble suspending disbelief about these guys not being selected to maximize drama and keep the shooting schedule short.

Maybe I've read too many survival books (Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost At Sea at way too young an age) and too much frontier history, but I was genuinely expecting this to be like 90 days, minimum. Half of them have already gone home.
Dude is still on this boat nonsense. I mean, cool, you built a boat and it floats, so far. But, where are you going to go in a boat?

I'm calling it. Alan is going to win. Made a food camp far from his sleeping camp? Man knows what's up.

Oh, but Sam is still cruising. Good shelter, has plenty of food, I dunno if he's cooking at home, or not, but he's clearly been outside more than a few times.
The boatman is not long for the island. Undercooked shellfish will be his end.

Oh, it's gonna be Sam.
"After high school, Sam travelled to northern Maine to study bushcraft at the Jack Mountain Bushcraft School...Sam had the urge to experience a new environment, so he sold his Jeep to purchase a plane ticket to Arizona where he lived under an Army poncho and learned from one of his bushcraft mentors. The following year Sam traveled to New Mexico where he traversed the Gila Wilderness alone, with only minimal gear and a handful of granola." https://www.history.com/shows/alone/cast/sam-larson

This is the kind of guy I thought all of these dudes were, at the beginning, but it's clear most of them have never actually been to a wild place.

@shanecelis I'm loving this show. I am extremely picky about reality TV and I hate most of it, but this is gold.

I think Alan could live out there as long as he wants to, but he's going stir crazy by himself.
Sam seems to be better suited to being alone, but he's trying and failing to trap mice, which seems like desperation. Things are going pretty bad when you're sad about not catching mice to eat.

Day 32. Four guys still left. Things are looking up. Not for Sam, he's excited about catching one (1) tiny mouse, but maybe somebody will get a decent run.
