Sometimes I wonder if Summer gets tired of listening to me talk.

  • Sometimes I wonder if Summer gets tired of listening to me talk. She never complains so I'll keep telling her all my super secret thoughts. She is discreet and supportive. What more could I want from my daily walking companion?
Today we agreed that we are tired of the overused word resilient. We don't feel resilient.
We are survivors who know how to maximize our resources and find contentment with far less than most humans think they need to be happy.
The road we were driving to the beach is hazardous. Pot holes full of water are hard to judge. It's best to navigate around them all. These days our very existence is like driving this road.
While we carefully avoided the pitfalls we sang.
I introduced Summer to the old Three Dog Night song Joy to the World. We sang because we really find joy in each other's company.

@NorcalGma2 great photos, and I agree about resilience.

@NorcalGma2 with Summer’s affinity for frogs, I am sure she and Jeremiah would be great pals. 🐸 🐕 💕

@NorcalGma2 I love your attitude. Love. Summer is so lucky to have you and your husband, just as you are lucky to have her.

"Resilient", to me, seems to imply that bad things happen, but they slide right off, leaving no impression/no trace of contact. I don't think that people actually work that way.

I think that we all struggle with things, and that to an extent, the scars from our experiences define us.

Sometimes, touting the importance of being resilient just seems like another way to blame the victim of bad things, for not having that magic "resilience".

Democrats are using the word way too much. It feels like the downtrodden are trying to crawl out from under the oppression instead of standing defiant. I am feeling reasonably defiant these days.

    Joyfully defiant maybe.

@kellyromanych Sounds like a good dog, and the egret must have known that, too.

I didn't realize that upgrading the cell phones for six people would be so complicated. It took a family meeting, a spreadsheet, and a phone call with customer service. Trying to prioritize our wants and needs against the cost and hard sell service provider tactics. We finally figured it out.I am old enough to remember when my whole family shared one phone on the wall and we all knew each other's business for better or worse.I don't tell the grandkids that, because it sounds too much like walking to school up hill both ways.Sometimes, I wonder how I ever got so dependent on a device that shares my personal information with goodness knows who.It must be progress, right?Summer says she prefers her in person communication style.#Summer #DogsOfMastodon

Summer is amazing. She was all cozied up to her pal.All of the sudden she wiggled out and hopped up on my lap. I'm rarely her first choice for a cuddle so I was surprised. As soon as she leaned in to me and put her head on my cheek I felt the beginning of the most extreme panic attack I have ever experienced. She stayed close and quiet until I felt better. She knows things. I don't know how she knows but she does. The power of Summer's love has been the gift of a lifetime. I am thankful.Maybe I should spend an hour in Hyrule where the bad guys are easier to vanquish and the good guys will win in the end.Summer says heck yes. She loves to watch.#Summer #DogsOfMastodon
