What are the options for a blind install or preinstalls that have functional screen readers?
(I know the options aren't great, some assistive features are disappearing without explanation, but I want to believe there's something worth suggesting for this year.)

I wonder whether you might leverage one working OS to install another?For example, from a running distro that already has a working screen reader, open a new window and launch the installer from there. In theory the former should let you navigate the latter, though it's hardly a convenient or proven solution.

@shadowfals I do believe that Debian does pretty well, including that it has software speech support for the installer (and that is apparently the default since Debian 12, which would be about three years ago). https://wiki.debian.org/accessibility has a lot of details and there is also the section on accessibility in the stable release manual at https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/ch05s02

Hopefully the airline makes it right. Does your airline have passenger rights regulations?
In Canada the airline must make all efforts to send you to your destination in a timely manner, rebooking you for free.

@mau @aitech Mi capita di usare gemini per estrarre informazioni da documenti pieni di screenshot; e quando mi risponde con "hai ragione, scusa, capisco la frustrazione" mi viene sempre da dire "ma quanti porco leone di bit stai sprecando per un complimento inutile!"
Comunque è vero e pericoloso: in un mondo pronto a giudicarti sempre di più su quello che fai, questo affare che funziona da volpe quando loda il corvo, ha successo. Da quando raccontavano della volpe e il corvo in metafora, sono passati millenni e siamo ancora qua a discuterne.
