I don't remember exactly what set of steps used to be required here, but on Tahoe (and with a similar series of taps for iOS/iPadOS 26) it looks like this: 🧵

I don't remember exactly what set of steps used to be required here, but on Tahoe (and with a similar series of taps for iOS/iPadOS 26) it looks like this: 🧵
1. Don't right-click on the phone number in the conversation list; this does nothing.
2. Click on the phone number in the conversation list to open the conversation.
3. Don't right-click on the phone number under the blank profile pic; this does nothing.
4. Click on the number below the blank profile pic. It will open an info panel.🧵

5. Don't click on the "phone [recent]" number in the info panel; that will make a phone call. Don't right-click it either; that will do nothing.
4. Click "Create New Contact".
6. Select the phone number and copy it.
7. Click the "X" in the top left to avoid actually creating a contact.
8. Click "Discard Changes" even though you have made no changes. It is actually easier to just take a screenshot at the first step, paste it into Preview, and copy the OCR'd number out.

@glyph I thought you were describing Google Voice, which has similarly idiotic behavior.
