OK let's recap

  • OK let's recap.
    I have a GMKtec nucbox G3, Intel n100, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram.

    • mastodon-glitchsoc: no. Or for a small instance. Too heavy.
    • Sharkey: no. Or for a small instance. Too heavy, and too ma'y informations on the screen.
    • Mitra: no. Could have been good one, but users can write stuff and make it readable only if you pay with XRM (or other crypto shit)
    • Iceshrimp: no. The dev is random.
    • Hubzilla: why not. But doesn't work properly with my yunohost setup.
    • BonFire: why not. But nobody knows it. There is no mobile app so far, but it's planned.
    • Akkoma: why not, but it's he'll to install.
    • Gotosocial: why not. But there is no UI, need to use phanpy, phanpy doesn't have mobile app and needs to be pinned on the screen. Other mobile apps take GTS in charge though. Haven't found anything bad until now.
    • Hollo: why not, but when it will be on Yunohost, otherwise I don't want to use a specific service (railway, as apparently it's the fastest way to install it)
    • Snac2: why not, probably the simplest to set up, lightweight. But need an nginx to point the domain on the software, and need a reverse proxy.

    @hardtech Yeah, unfortunately the main developer of Iceshrimp has been… erratic and not consistent.

    Iceshrimp.NET would run on it though.

    The CPU is comparable to the RK3588, which does run iceshrimp.NET decently.

    @hardtech@corteximplant.com how about NodeBB 😅

    Hi #fediverse! I'm working on Hackers' Pub, a small #ActivityPub-powered social platform for developers and tech folks. We're currently drafting a content #moderation (#flag/#report) system and would really appreciate any feedback from those who have experience with federated moderation—we're still learning. Some ideas we're exploring: Protecting reporter anonymity while giving reported users enough context to understand and improve Graduated responses (warning → content removal → suspension) rather than jumping to bans Using LLM to help match reports to code of conduct provisions Supporting ActivityPub Flag activity for cross-instance reports Our guiding principle is that moderation should be about growth, not punishment. Expulsion is the last resort. Here's the full draft if you're curious: https://github.com/hackers-pub/hackerspub/issues/192. If you've dealt with moderation in federated contexts, what challenges did you run into? What worked well? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Bot accounts on #Mastodon should be able to be flagged as "do not cache".Having to hit F5 to reload the page every 30 minutes like as if it was still the early 2000s or something to play @fediplayssnake #Mastodon #ActivityPub #Bot

    Ugh #Mastodon database use is up another $10...I appreciate things like quote posts being added to v4.5 etc. but I really feel like developers should prioritize rewriting the 'Remote content retention period code' to a more useful state. As it is now, all you can do to save remote cache space is destructive and non-reversible.The whole Fediverse is storing rarely if ever used remote content forever, thousands of servers... such a waste of money and disk space.https://masto.host/mastodon-content-retention-settings/
