I agree it sounds like some shop-specific busy season they haven't considered other people wouldn't know about.I'm mostly just impressed that this is the second reference to birthday cake ice cream I've seen today and so far no one is incensed that birthday cake 'isn't a flavor'
Did everyone just collectively chill out about it finally?

With this shop... that would make sense.
They have a bunch of strange rules:
* cash only!
* you can only taste flavors AFTER paying for a cone
* they have milkshakes but won't put them on the menu and act like they are secret?And their hours are just... IDK. I went in since I just go in there when I see they are open.
Sometimes they just have two flavors, sometimes ten.

(serious question, I don't know how that works, I never fronted a mob and AFAIK none of my relatives did)(I mean, I did once buy from a bakery that I suspect to be a money laundering front because their pastries were so bland that I don't see how they could survive otherwise, since there were other bakeries in the neighborhood; but that's the point, they clearly didn't care about making anything actually good)

@futurebird I have a winter birthday (like real winter, not November) and can confirm, nobody wants to celebrate at that time of year. Especially not with ice cream, but also not with anything that involves leaving thrif homes.

Btw, just found the v2 release announcement of @fedify and that is a prime example on how, on the grassroots environment end of the spectrum we can maneuvre into better territory.
Kudos to the #fedify developers. Handing people tools they need to focus on solutions, and build without getting thrown into deep on-the-wire impl detail reeds to worry about.
That is the positive side of the equation. There's not only a big uptick in interest for the #SocialAPI i.e. #ActivityPub client-to-server, which offers new opportunity to correct course. But also are there more #FOSS projects focused on robust tool and library support for the 'Solution developer' stakeholder.
In the revamp of the delightful commons initiative, made possible with support of @nlnet I emphasized all these projects, while I de-emphasized the apps that are already doing good for themself, but contribute to further divergence from open standards.

Inside a Compact Intel 3000 W Water-Cooled Power Supply
Recently [ElecrArc240] got his paws on an Intel-branded 3 kW power supply that apparently had been designed as a reference PSU for servers. At 3 kW in such a compact package air cooling would be rather challenging, so it has a big water block sandwiched between the two beefy PCBs. In the full teardown and analysis video of the PSU we can see the many design decisions made to optimize efficiency and minimize losses to hit its 80 Plus Platinum rating.
For the power input you’d obviously need to provide it with 240 VAC at sufficient amps, which get converted into 12 VDC at a maximum of 250 A. This also highlights why 48 VDC is becoming more common in server applications, as the same amount of power would take only 62.5 A at that higher voltage.
The reverse-engineered schematic shows it using an interleaved totem-pole PFC design with 600 V-rated TI LMG3422 600V GaN FETs in the power stages. After the PFC section we find a phase-shifted full bridge rectifier with OnSemi’s SiC UF3C065030K4S Power N-Channel JFETs.
There were a few oddities in the design, such as the Kelvin source of the SiC JFET being tied into the source, which renders that feature useless. Sadly the performance of the PSU was not characterized before it was torn apart which might have provided some clues here.

Though with regards to progress, there's a difference in both approaches.
At the #SolidProject side you have inertia by the slow standardization process. But should they figure things out in a good way, eventually the ecosystem catches up and the inertia can quickly decrease.
While at #ActivityPub side, since AS/AP remains stagnant, the ever increasing protocol decay and tech debt non-linearly increases inertia and progress. And on top of that, you are never done once you implemented the 'ad-hoc specs' of the installed base, and you have to account for continuous whack-a-mole development and maintenance burdens to fix #interoperability breakages.
The AS/AP based fediverse devolves into effectively no interoperability, and a situation that is more comporative to NPM dependency hell.
