I just re-read the trilogy His Dark Materials. The first and last time I read it, I was very religious. I loved the first book with its criticism of churches doing evil in the name of god, but was disappointed with the other two when I realized they were anti-god, not just anti-evil-church.
This time I read it as an atheist. I particularly enjoyed Mary's description of how she went from nun to atheist. It has put me in the mood to hear other people's stories of leaving religion. -

It has put me in the mood to hear other people's stories of leaving religion.@dillyd Happened when I was a teenager and witnessed/experienced the hypocrisy between what was preached and what was practiced by supposed church leaders. All that, plus the “gay people are going to hell” stuff.
