Migration to #openbsd for my personal website completed!
That was quite a painless process. At last an OS that is well designed and well documented. It just makes sense. And it’s really just what I need for hosting a small website.
And thanks to @OpenBSDAms it was easy to get a VPS running this beautiful OS 😇

I'm glad you found #openbsd to be well documented. Can you tell us which OS you left? Is it only for the documentations or were there other issues?

@OpenBSDAms@paoloredaelli @OpenBSDAms I was on Debian before that. Not that it’s bad, but it felt much messier to configure properly (e.g. nginx) and the documentation wasn’t that clear, so I had to check many articles on the Web to configure what I wanted. I’ve much more experience with Linux than BSDs, but the philosophy of OpenBSD makes much more sense to me so far. I still prefer Arch Linux for my desktop use though, but for servers, I’m now 100% for OpenBSD

@boarim depending on what you use your desktop for, openbsd is even great for that

OpenBSD is made by a far far smaller team of developer. Entering this team by far more demanding. This positively shows in the quality of the release. Yet we must acknowledge that Debian distributues a lot more packages. I won't be surprised discovering the ratio is 2 orders of magnitude

Prepararsi al pi day 2026
Quest'anno mettere in piedi il Carnevale della Matematica del 14 marzo, che sarà peraltro la 195.ma edizione, non è stato per nulla semplice. Il motivo è che il giorno del pi day sarò sul treno per rientrare da Firenze, dove a partire dall'11 marzo sarà in svolgimento Didacta, fiera della didattica italiana. Ho, quindi, costretto gli altri matematti a inviarmi con congruo anticipo i loro contributi (e nel frattempo ho anche cercato di impostare delle bozze, non sia mai che riesca a raccontarvi qualcosa da Didacta a fine serata!), per cui non ho preparato nessun contenuto video da lanciare in contemporanea o in anteprima al Carnevale. E allora ecco l'idea di proporre in un post apposito un paio di news di MaddMaths! dedicate proprio al pi day e che sarebbero state decisamente vecchie uscendo all'interno del Carnevale:
Tutte le info per segnalare gli eventi dedicati alla Giornata intenazionale della matematica: per questa edizione il tema è Matematica e speranzaInoltre c'è anche una pagina con alcune attività da organizzare per il pi day. All'interno troverete alcune schede in italiano per attività a tema matematico (e pi greco!).Anche se mancano ancora pochi giorni al #piday, c'è comunque ancora un po' di tempo per segnalare eventi o lasciarsi ispirare dalle attività proposte!
